Police Training Services Company presents a wide variety of professional seminars to enhance the knowledge and skills of law enforcement officers.  These seminars focus on all facets of police work including (but not limited to): Officer Involved Shootings, Tactics, Leadership, Terrorism, Command Post Operations, and Incident Command System (SEMS/NIMS).  Through these seminars the officer will learn a myriad of essential police skills.  These skills will provide an officer with a basic knowledge required to succeed and survive in the demanding field of law enforcement.  All seminars are taught by professionals with numerous years of field experience.

Police Training Services Company is proud to announce its most popular seminar is being hosted by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. PTSC will conduct a three-day seminar titled, “Responding To Officer Involved Shootings.” 

The seminar will start with Dr. Bill Lewinski who is the founder and director of The Force Science Research Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.  Dr. Lewinski has an extensive background in “Human Performance in Lethal Force Encounters” and a Ph.D. in Police Psychology. Deputy Sheriff Mike Alagna (San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department) will follow and present his unique perspective on the OIS he was involved in which created national interest.  Mike will discuss not only the shooting but also the aftermath.  Retired Lieutenant Art Ruditsky (thirty years with the Los Angeles Police Department) will provide a block of instruction on how the patrol force should respond to and manage an OIS.

Detective Jack Forsman (L.A.P.D. Force Investigations Division) will provide insights on how to conduct the investigation.  Detective Forsman is one of the primary investigators responding to officer involved shooting for the Los Angeles Police Department.

The next segment will include Deputy District Attorney Shannon Presby of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.  His presentation will cover the needs and requirements of the local district attorney. 

Captain Steve Rodig, recently retired from the Anaheim Police Department will discuss Use of Force legal issues.  Captain Rodig’s presentation will include information on statements, statue law and a variety of cases impacting current practices.  The final presenter will be retired Chief of Police Garrett Zimmon of the San Bernardino Police Department (a 32-year law enforcement veteran). He will provide attendees with the unique perspective that a Chief of Police offers, relative to the officer involved shooting.

Who should attend?  Any supervisor or officer responding to the initial scene; or anyone who will eventually investigate or review the OIS.

PTSC reserves the right to refuse registration and to replace instructors as needed.  Tuition fees are due prior to the course.  Cancellations three weeks prior to the course will receive full reimbursement minus a $25 administrative charge; cancellations one to two weeks prior will receive a 50% refund; and failure to attend will result in forfeited tuition fees. PTSC reserves the right to cancel any course up to 14 days prior to the scheduled start date. All tuition fees will be refunded should this occur.

 

Indio Police Department will be hosting a Crowd Control Seminar on the 1st and 3rd of April 2008.  This seminar will be closed to the public.  However, if you are interested in attending a Crowd Control Seminar please contact us and we will be happy to arrange training for our department.
Cathedral City Police Department will be hosting a Active Shooter / Immediate Action Response Seminar on the 23rd and 24th of April 2008.  This seminar will be closed to the public.  However, if you are interested in attending an Active Shooter / Immediate Action Response Seminar please contact us and we will be happy to arrange training for your department.
